I just wanted to provide a little helpful info. I have v10, v11 and v12 waves plugins all living together, happily working away just fine! Now, for anyone that doesn't like their sound, fair enough. The CLA-2A from Waves is a plug-in modeled after the legendary classic compressor/limiter. My vocal chain is an LA-2A, SSL E Series Channel Strip, an 1176LN, and a Precision De-Esser. I just wanted to post this to inform people that it is not at all required in order to use your purchased waves plugins. However, I understand how people don't like it. Lastly, I have never bought WUP, and honestly, I don't want to. However, you won't get new features or additional plugins that are added to packs you may have bought. Free or not, this is one of the best LA-2A plugin options. It comes in VST/3, AU, and AAX formats for Windows and Mac systems. Saturation is also available to provide some analog flavor. The waves plugins I have from 3 years ago still get bug fixes. A side-chain high-pass filter and mix control gives you additional options without having to set up extra routing. I think some people here think that after a year, you lose plugin updates and NEED to buy into WUP. I haven't ever bought WUP because I don't need it. I have waves plugins that are now around 3 years old and they still work. WUP is not required to use or even get general program updates! Judging by some of the comments here, people seem to think that waves plugins stop working after a year and you don't get updates.this is not true! The amount of times I see people repeat that WUP is required, either on Facebook or forums, is crazy.
